October 2025 Update - DEFIBRILLATOR TRAINING

Gifford Community Council supports 6 Defibrillators in the local area. We would like to organise practical sessions on resuscitation for as many local people age 16 and over as possible.

The sessions will be led by the voluntary Community First Responders (CFR) from Humbie (Scottish Ambulance (SAS). We would like to arrange a rolling programme of sessions to reach as many people as possible so please let us know if you wish to take part. Regular visitors to the village are welcome to join in.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

-
an overview of the medical reasons for a ‘collapse’
-
immediate response to an unconscious person needed
-
hands on practice of Basic Resuscitation using a mannequin
-
A Defibrillator will be opened and what to do with it shown, and commands explained
The sessions are FREE and will be held in the Bowling Club on a weekday evening.
SAS recommends that : if you have no previous experience or it is more than 2 years since your last practice, then you are advised to do a session.
